Does a medium physically see and hear spirits?
This answer is different for every psychic medium. In terms of how I
communicate with spirits, I do NOT physically see or hear them.
They communicate with me through clairvoyance, which means they provide me
with visuals in my mind. You know how you can envision a scene from your
favorite movie without actually watching it on a screen? That’s how it happens
for me. Images are dropped into my mind by spirit, and I do my best to
communicate what those images or scenes look like.
Spirits also communicate with me through claircognizance, which means
“clear knowing.” They give me information through my thoughts, which
then are expressed through words. It’s almost like they airdrop thoughts into
my head, and then spit them out of my mouth. Often times, when I present
information verbally, the person being read will say, “That’s just how my
mom would have said that!” or “That sure sounds like dad!” The
thoughts are not my own, and therefore, the words are not my own.
How soon can I connect with loved ones who have crossed over?
When a person crosses over, they often go through a period of soul healing
and restoration. I like to think of it as a spa that helps the person clear all
negative emotions and trauma that they have collected during their lifetime.
During this time, there is a life review, where the person meets with his or
her guides and loved ones to discuss what they learned during their lifetime.
I recommend waiting at least six months after a loved one passes away to
attempt to connect with them through a reading. While they do not experience a
sense of time, this seems to be the amount of earthly time that provides for
the most accurate and useful readings. The spirit has to learn how to connect
and communicate through a medium.
This six month period is also important because often times when grief is
extremely fresh, it acts as a large black cloud, or barrier, that keeps you
from sensing the presence of your loved one. This is why, often times, a loved
one will come to an aunt, cousin, or distant friend in a dream, shortly after
their passing. You may wonder why your loved one did not come to you in a
dream. It is usually because your grief is more concentrated and harder for
them to communicate through. Giving yourself six months to work through at
least some of your grief usually ensures a more clear reading that will provide
you with the information that your soul needs.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PSYCHIC AND A MEDIUM?
From what I understand based on the information I have learned over the years through spirit is that every medium is a psychic, but not every psychic is a medium. That probably makes no sense, so let me explain.
A medium is someone who acts as a straw between the spirit world and the physical world, and is able to communicate with our earthly loved ones who have passed away and crossed over to the other side.
A psychic is able to use her senses to read someone’s energy field. Psychic information has more to do with your everyday life, rather than validations and messages from loved ones who have crossed over. Tarot card readings, oracle card readings, palmistry, and aura reading would be examples of psychic work.
It is important to note that neither is better or worse than the other. Sometimes you need a medium, and sometimes you need a psychic. In my personal readings, I usually use both. Other mediums do not agree with this, and will only provide one or the other. I find that my readings are more helpful with both mediumship validations and psychic information, but everyone is different.
The most important thing to note when working with a psychic or medium (or both) is that you must give them permission to work in your energy field. Similar to how it would be inappropriate to walk into someone’s house unannounced, I believe it is immoral to read someone who has not asked for a reading. When selecting a psychic or medium to work with, you should be sure that their intentions are pure.
